I noticed that a bad trap to fall into is to assume the release versions of VS2010 and SL4 are "upgrades" to the RC and the Beta. I can assure you this is not the case.
Even if you uninstall everything (all versions of SL3, SL4 RC, VS2010 beta, rc, etc.) and re-install the clean release version and SDK...your SL project could still complain about the beta version being expired.
I have found it simpler to create a new SL project in VS2010 and copy the files over, I found the new project compiled cleanly and published very simply.
I use DiscountASP to host both my WCF Services and the Silverlight, some on the same server, somtimes different.
